  • Martham Ferry Boat Yard

    Martham Ferry Boat Hire are a small family run Norfolk Broads day boat hire business - their boats are powered by electric and diesel and self-drive day boats are available to hire all year round – by the hour, day or week.

    They are just a two minute stroll from the campsite.

  • Martham & District Angling Club

    Martham & District Angling Club was formed in 1984 and since then the club has always had a continual restocking program.

    The pits are open to non-members and day tickets can be purchased from our Coffee Shack.

  • Marquis Equine - Hickling

    Marquis Equine is a licenced riding school established in 2014. Located in Hickling village and only a 15 minute drive away.

    Brian is a true professional and you’re guaranteed a super lesson with either ‘Molly’ for adults or ‘Maggie’ and ‘Jess’ for children.

  • Bure Valley Railway Wroxham to/from Alysham

    Experience a nostalgic trip by steam on Norfolk’s longest narrow gauge railway which runs between the historic market town of Aylsham and the bustling broadland town of Wroxham.

    The 18 mile round trip runs through the pretty Bure Valley countryside following the meandering River Bure through meadowland and ancient pasture. Along the line are wayside halts serving picturesque villages of Brampton, Buxton and Coltishall.

    Or walk along the Bure Valley Path which runs along side the railway taking in the beautiful views, then relax on a ride back after a delicious lunch in one of the passing villages.

  • The Deep History Coast

    The Deep History Coast mobile App brings the past back to life before your very eyes!

    There are ten App-led walks along the 36km of coastline from Weybourne to Cart Gap where you will find eleven Discovery Points. At each of the Discovery Points you can trigger the app via the Hominin icon and see early man and his family in their natural environment as they interact with you and become your very own tour guide! Go on a journey back in time and see what life in Doggerland was like for them. See the West Runton Steppe mammoth in its environment, identify fossils, play games and collect items for your virtual journal - all at the touch of a button!

  • BeWILDerwood - Hoveton

    BeWILDerwood is a huge, award winning forest of family fun and outdoor adventure. Treehouses, Wobbly Wires, Slippery Slopes, Crocklebogs, Twiggles and Boggles, storytelling, and really yummy food!

    The ideal age range for children is 2 – 12 years old, however BeWILDerwood is a family adventure park, which means teens, parents and grandparents can all enjoy the play equipment just as much as the children.

NATURE, WILDLIFE, LOCAL WALKS

  • Norfolk Wildlife Trust - Hickling Broad

    You can easily spend the day walking around the trails. Hickling is home to a significant percentage of the UK population of common crane, important breeding numbers of bittern, marsh harrier, bearded tit and cetti’s warbler. You’ll almost certainly see a barn owl and kingfishers, if you’re lucky. Mammals include chinese water deer, red deer and otters. Notable insects include the swallowtail butterfly and the Norfolk hawker dragonfly.

  • Little Tern Colony - Gt Yarmouth North Beach

    Little terns arrive back on UK shores in April and May, where they breed on sand and shingle beaches, spits or inshore islets. Around 300 pairs of the little tern colony arrives from Africa to rest in autumn to raise their chicks. Protective fences are raised around the colony to protect them however you are asked to report to the RSPB cabin first to seek advise on the best way to view without disturbing these wonderful birds.

  • RSPB - Strumphaw

    A designated SSSI, SPA and SAC site, home to a range of habitats and wildlife. Walk round the reedbeds, woodlands and meadows and chance upon seeing bitterns and kingfishers. Each season brings an abundance of life. Spring displays of courting pairs of marsh harriers ‘sky-dancing’, song from sedge and reed warblers. Meadows come alive with rich displays of wild flowers and variety of butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies including the beautiful swallowtail butterfly.

  • Norfolk Coastal Path

    The Norfolk Coastal Path is 84 miles starting in Hunstanton in West Norfolk round to Hopton-on-Sea. The trail is runs through the dramatic landscape of the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

    From shingle to marshland to gold sandy beaches you truly won’t be disappointed with the beautiful scenery and beaches Norfolk has to offer.

    Ferrygate Camping has welcome many walkers and cyclist campers who have been walking the many scenic and beautiful pathways through Norfolk.

  • Walks from the doorstep

    Go right at the river and you can walk alongside the water to the village of Somerton then pick up the trails and head to Winterton-on-Sea or even further.

    Go left at the river and walk as far as Great Yarmouth passing historic landmarks along the way. Potter Heigham has selection of cafes and chip shop as well as the famous medieval bridge dating back to 1385. A low-arched structure a notorious test for novice boaters! Continuing on you’ll pass the beautiful white Thurne Mill. For 200 year it has been a distinctive part of the landscape finishing its working life in 1936.

  • Cycle routes from the doorstep

    Norfolk offers some beautiful scenic routes both on and and off-road.

    Download or carry an OS Map and you’ll be able to explore some super hidden gems. Whether you’re looking for a few miles to slowly discover or to reach further afield achieving more miles. Along the routes you’ll find tearooms, and coffee shops to help keep you fuelled or alternatively a well deserved bag of chips on the coast.

    We really do have something for everyone.

  • St Benet's Abbey

    1,000 years ago St Benet’s Abbey was a thriving monastery dominating the areas in an isolated spot on Norfolk’s River Bure.

    Today the Norfolk Archaeological Trust owns St Benet’s Abbey and welcomes visitors to explore this beautiful site heaped with history and beauty. You truly must visit while in Norfolk and see the mill that is built within the original keep walls. Free tours are available.

  • East Ruston Gardens

    Created solely by the owners from a blank canvas visitors are welcome to wonder around the beautiful gardens and be inspired.

    In an exposed landscape many of the habitats for birds and mammals had long. With this in the mind the owners have endeavoured to replace some of these by the planting of mixed hedgerows, banks, wildflower areas and ponds. Throughout you will see many rare and unusual plants growing.

  • Museum of the Broads

    Learn about the creation of the broads, the role they paid during war times and the abundance of wildlife that can be found. As well as how people’s working lives shaped the landscape to various industries including boatbuilding, tourism, brewing and conservation projects.

    This waterside museum is family friendly and allows well behaved dogs, you can even hop on a river trip on the steam boat ‘ Falcon’.
