Ferrygate Camping
Our peaceful at-one-with-nature campsite nestled in the beautiful Norfolk Broads
* Sorry but caravans and motorhomes are not permitted (converted campers should be max 5.5m long, if unsure do contact us) *
With a love and passion for the outdoors and water the Ferrygate Camping team invites you to come and explore the Norfolk Broads and its surrounding areas…
Ferrygate camping is situated on seven acres surrounded by glorious countryside and right next to the water. There are no electric hook-ups and no set pitches making this a quiet and relaxing site where it’s ever-so easy to immerse yourself in the sounds of nature.
The Coffee Shack offers a selection of barista coffee, tea, pastries and cakes which is open to both campers and passers-by. We have great facilities whereby both toilets and showers are individual units providing hot water and no tokens are required.
The site has its own private launch facility for SUPs, kayaks and canoes. The launch is included with camping or we offer ‘Park and Paddle’ for visitors. We also have kayaks and canoes available to hire from the site. The Broads are a water lover’s paradise, with over 120 miles of navigable, lock-free waterways as well as 63 broads which have channels and cuts that can only be reached by paddlecraft - the perfect way to explore.
For those that prefer land-based adventures there are miles of the stunning sandy beaches, numerous walking trails and cycle routes both on and off-road awaiting hikers and cyclists alike … and all accessible from the site - this really is the best location for waterside living under canvas.
After a days’ exploring, entertainment by night comes from campfire cooking and toasting marshmallows whilst enjoying the vast space. With the site being low light pollution stargazing is inevitably breath-taking.
The village of Martham, a quaint village is only a 1 mile walk away. It has a picturesque green and duck pond, a post office, two Co-Op’s, doctors and pharmacy and an outdoor/country store with pet supplies and two pubs.
The beautiful coastal village of Winterton-on-Sea is only a ten-minute drive away and offers not only the majestical sandy beach and wondrous Winterton Dunes National Nature Reserve it also has a cosy pub, fish and chips and dune-top cafe.
Other local sandy beaches include Horsey which is perfect for seal spotting, Sea Palling, Waxham and Happisburgh all driveable from the campsite. Across the dyke from the campsite you can hire electric day boats meaning you can gain access to the best of the Broads by boat.
